The FTSE/Athex Banks index started on December 31, 1980 with 100 as its basis. It was designed by Athens Exchange in cooperation with FTSE International Limited and it depicts, on a real time basis, the performance of the shares which constitute the Banks super sector according to the Industry Classification Benchmark (ICB).
