Frigoglass Group, consistent with its long-term strategy of expanding in its core business, announced today the acquisition of the entire cooler division owned by The Coca-Cola Company subsidiary in South Africa. The products are sold under the brand name HUSKY. The company also announced the acquisition of 60% of TSG (Triplex Security Glass), a company operating in Nigeria engaged in the production and distribution of windscreens, architectural and decoration glass. Sales for 2001 are expected to reach ?8.7 million for HUSKY and ?8.1 million for TSG.The new investments amount to ?8,350,000 and ?1,020,000 respectively and will be covered by the proceeds from the sale of company's participation in the glass industries in Greece and Bulgaria, as recently announced.The acquisition of HUSKY coolers is subject to the successful completion of financial and legal due diligence process, usual in similar situations. The production facilities are in Johannesburg, South Africa, where 170 people are employed. It is the biggest producer of coolers in the area with 75% market share. It is owned by The Coca-Cola Company since 1989, serving the needs of its bottling system in cooling equipment. After the acquisition by Frigoglass, the customer base will be enlarged to include other beverage and ice cream companies.The acquisition of HUSKY, combined with existing production facilities in Nigeria and the assembly unit in Kenya, gives Frigoglass a competitive advantage by enhancing local presence and proximity to markets with high growth potential.Frigoglass offers to its customers products and services of high quality, combined with local production in many countries around the globe.
