Athens, February 15, 2001 - Mytilineos Holdings S.A. (MYTr.AT) (MYTIL GA) makes a big step in its growing course, by its dynamic entrance into the energy sector. Through two new subsidiaries the Group becomes active in the electric energy production and commerce, penetrating into the energy sector, in which the Group's subsidiary METKA already has a significant presence.The Group's investment plans, which are submitted to the Regulatory Authority for Energy (RAE), will cover the entire spectrum of the activities. The activities from the invitation of RAE, will support the construction and operation licenses of electricity production units.The new subsidiaries of Mytilineos Holdings S.A., which will implement the Group's investment plans in the energy sector, are the following: 1. MYTILINEOS POWER GENERATION AND SUPPLIES (MPGS), aims at developing, constructing, operating thermal power plant and trading of electric and thermal energy in Greece and abroad. The shareholder structure of the new company is: MYTILINEOS S.A.: 67% METKA S.A.: 33% 2. MYTILINEOS-HELLENIC WIND POWER (MHWP), aims at the exploitation of wind power through development, construction and operation of high technology wind farms. The shareholder structure of the company: MYTILINEOS S.A.: 56% METKA S.A.: 24% I.T.A. S.A.: 20%I.T.A · International Technological (Applications) is one of the oldest and more active Greek companies in the development of wind energy farms. Finally, Mytilineos Holdings S.A. signed a cooperation agreement with the Danish electricity company ELSAM, for the establishment of a combined electric and thermal production unit (co-production). In the framework of this cooperation, the new subsidiary of the Group, MPGS will participate with a share of 40% in the company THERMIE SERRES S.A., in which also ELSAM and I.T.A. participate.THERMIE SERRES S.A. has already obtained an installation permit by the Ministry establishment of a CHP plant to produce electricity and heat for the town of Serres in Macedonia. The cooperation of Mytilineos Holdings S.A. with ELSAM will expand also in to the wind energy sector.ELSAM is the largest electric company in Denmark. It owns large and high technology thermal power plants CHP plants and wind parks, while it has long experience in the trading of electric energy. On February 19 (immediately after the introduction to the Regulatory Authority for Energyof all applications for the granting of operational licenses for electricity production units), Mytilineos Holdings S.A. will publish a detailed announcement for the thermal units, the wind parks and hydroelectric facilities that are included in its file towards RAE.
